Reflection:
This semester has taught me a lot, not just about teaching, but skills that will apply to all aspects of my life. The first is teamwork; although I have had many experiences with this subject, this time around I was bale to see strengths of both myself and partner Jonathan shine when they were needed most. Teamwork has always meant equal effort among teammates, equal effort was given this semester, but sometimes equal did not always mean doing the same thing. We were able to feed off of each other while planning, during class periods and even grew into synchronized improvisation. We had decided in the beginning to work alongside each other, meeting for planning and constantly in contact about ideas and what we needed to be ready for class that friday. This helped tremendously get to know each other, our own teaching styles, and not only that, we respected those unique differences and styles and learned to complement each other in the classroom.
The work load was also different, and we were able to work together on that as well. As partners we established a pace to get things done, not leaving everything for the last minute, but using those last reviews to see if we had missed anything. Lesson plans are becoming more and more valuable, understood and comfortable. I am no longer just filling in boxes with words that sound right, but understanding the importance of the behind the scenes work and applying to how my class can benefit from that effort.
And finally, I am so nervous and excited for the next step. I am ready to have a steady day in the school, become a part of a classroom rather than a visitor once a week, and learn from my daily mistakes-which will be a never ending process. I am ready to continue my journey as a life long learner.
